Kenan Cayir
Director
Cayir graduated from Bogazici University, Sociology Department where he continued his graduate studies. He received his PhD degree from Bogazici University, Political Science and International Relations Department. He carried post-doctoral studies at the Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights Education at the University of Leeds, and at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research.
He is specialised on coursebooks, citizenship, human rights education, discrimination and social movements. Cayir is a professor at Sociology Deparment in Istanbul Bilgi University.

Muge Ayan
Vice Director
Muge Ayan is an anthropologist with a DPhil and MPhil in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Oxford and holds an MA in Translation Studies from Bogazici University. She has been conducting ethnographic research in schools and other educational environments in Turkey since 2000. Her areas of interest include school ethnography, literacy acquisition, teacher agency, multilingual education, discrimination, and inclusive education; and she authored several publications on these issues.

Melisa Soran
Project Expert
Soran completed her undergraduate education at Bogazici University, Department of Sociology. She worked as assistant researcher in private sector for a while and then started working for The Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV) in the field of education.
She received her graduate degree in the Department of Educational Sciences. After she had worked for Education Reform Initiative (ERI), and Hisar Education Foundation Schools, she joined Center for Sociology and Education Studies as a project expert in 2012.
Soran conducts her work in the fields of critical thinking, human rights, discrimination, gender, disability and inclusive education.

Melike Ergun
Project Expert
Melike Ergun Yilmaz completed her undergraduate education at Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Sociology, and her graduate degree from the same university in the field of Cultural Studies.
Ergun joined the Center for Sociology and Education Studies as a project expert in 2011. She works in the fields of textbooks, inclusive education, gender and disability.
